Valentine Crochet Candy Hearts
'I want candy'...hearts crochet for V-day!
These candy hearts are perfect for an adorable addition to your Valentine's cards or you can do what I did and accessorize with them.
To get started you will need
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn works best to hold shape (I used Red Heart Super Savers)
Hook size G/6 4.25mm
Yarn needle
Hair Clips (optional)
Fiber/poly fill stuffing (optional)
Abbreviations:
CH- chain
TRC- treble crochet
DC- double crochet
SL ST- slip stitch
Bottom of Candy Hearts:
Choosing which ever color you want to start prepare to create a magic circle. The heart is worked in a single row around.
Stitching into Magic Circle, CH 4, then 3 TRC, 3 DC, CH 1, 1 TRC, CH 1, 3 DC, 3 TRC, CH 4 and SL ST into Magic circle. Fasten off and tighten magic circle
Top of Candy Hearts:
Repeat pattern for Bottom of heart but instead of fastening off you will then SC in Front loops only around edges. SC into each stitch of CH 4 then continue around and down CH 4 on other side. Join then fasten off leaving a tail to sew with.
Once you have created your hearts you can begin stitching phrases onto the top heart piece. You may be able to fit more if you use embroidery floss, however I just used yarn.
After you have finished your phrases you can stitch the hair clip to the back of the bottom piece if you choose. Now we sew the pieces together, for this I just shoved the ends into the center and used them as a sort of stuffing and it was more than enough to fill the shape, but if you prefer to use a filler that works too. You'll just need to weave in those pesky ends. I'm lazy!
Sitch around the edges to close it up, then weave in the last yarn and TA DA. Candy hearts galore!
Enjoy and have a super Valentine's Day <3
